Too high to die pt. VI

So here it is: The final update from our trip to Amsterdam. I'm allready sitting at home with my boy Fab while I'm typing this. That guy was sooo cute picking us up from the airport totally dressed with as a chaufeur and welcoming us with a beer. We went to our flat and then to Julias birthday party, which was nice.
But what did we do on our last day in Amsterdam? Well, not that much. We've pretty much seen everything that we wanted to see, so we just strolled around the city, looking for some nice photomotives, went to the burgerbar one last time and finally hung out at the park the rest of the afternoon as the weather became really really nice. If the weather would've been that good the whole time of our trip, we wouldn't have seen that much of the city.

Over all it was a great trip and I wanna thank Lucca for joining me and creating these awesome memories.

Chiller than most.

Nerds on a prowl.

Cold Cave

Best damn thing.

Love will tear us apart again.

Too high to die pt. V

No pictures this time. Sorry. I'll just give you a quick run down of what we did yesterday and will do today.
So yesterday we got up and went to this superawesome Photo-Exhibition by a guy named Ari Marcopoulos. Never heard of this guy, but his pics were amazing. He portraits youth and subcultures from Skateboarders and Snowboarders to Hip Hopers and the likes in a way I can relate to very much. He was even part of the posse of skaters that got casted for the movie Kids! That was a movie that impressed me a lot when I was younger, so it was cool do see some shots of the people involved in that flick.
After that we went on a Grachten-Boattrip to see the city from a totally different angle. Really nice and really something totally different.
The rest of the day was spent just chilling totally Amsterdam style. Since the wheather was way better than the days before we hung out at the nearby park or watchted the old man at Max Euweplein play chess. Inbetween we went for some Hot Dogs or Burgers. In the evening we went to eat some Pancakes, something we wanted to do the whole week, and it was a good descicion. Afterwards the Cold Cave show was on our program. And let me tell you, that was a weird one. The ticket said it would begin at 8:30. So we thought: 8:30 bla bla bla, are you kidding us? So we went to the venue at 8:45 just to make sure if they were kidding or not and they weren't. When we arrived there, Cold Cave were already playing. The venue itself was quite untypical. Don't know if you know the Paradiso, but it's more like an old opera house. And you have to buy a membership to attend the show. Crazy. The concertroom itself was on the second floor and since it was still not dark outside, all the windows were hung by thick courtains. At first the sound was horrible, but it got better during their set. Cold Cave were kinda cool, but on the other hand kinda weird too. No connection with the crow and it's weird to see Wes singing in such a band. But I enjoyed their set a lot, even if it's been a bit short. Funny thing: We almost got kicked out of the show too. :-D
The weird thing was, that when we went outside again, the sun was still shining. We didn't know what to do as the plan was to go to Boys Noize as well, but that show was starting at 11:00 and we still had like one and a half hours to go. So what to do? We decided to chill again a bit and that was it. After chilling a bit too much our motivation for an electro party sunk like 3 levels and we decided to stay at the hostel and chill a bit more which we did till we fell asleep.

So what are we gonna do today? Right now we're sitting in the hallway of our hostel as we allready had to check out. I think the plan is, that we'll search for some special ship we've seen on our boat trip yesterday. If we'll find it, I'll post a picture and you'll understand. Maybe we also check out another museum, we'll see. One thing we defenitely have to do is get rid of some substances that are illegal back home in Austria. So that's something we're gonna do for sure.

That's it for now, sorry for no pictures this time. All the good ones are on our analoge cameras.

Too high to die pt. IV

Due to a serious hangover we didn't do too much yesterday. Slept till noon, then went to the Resistance-Museum (A museum dedicated to the resistance-movement in the Netherlands during the occupation by Nazi-Germany), which is awesome btw and a thing you should check out whenever you're here. We weren't really motivated for more yesterday, so all we did was going to the city for some burgers and then went home, chilling at a park with our brother Buddha Cheese, getting some ice-cream afterwards and wathing some old dude play chess against a 50cent lookalike. Then we went home chilling the rest of the day.

Best Burger EVER!!!

But we've got big plans for today: There are 1 or 2 museums we wanna check out today, a flea market and we haven't been to the harbor yet, also an area we wanna go to. Plus my good friend Janette is arriving in the city today, so massive hangouts will happen. And finally the weather is good again with the sun saying hallo. In the evening we'll kill ourselves again with some heavy partying. First we'll go to the Cold Cave show and then Boys Noize will play in a club nearby. Good times ahead. Should be a great last night here in Amsterdam. Tomorrow we're flying back to Vienna, back to reality...

Too high to die pt. III

Oh what a night! Yesterday Lucca and I went out to see The Real Danger and The Flaltiners and the plan was to get a drunk as possible realy fast. And that was exactly what we did, puring a beer after a beer. The venue was pretty cools at it was kinda small...as if they were playing in a pub. Really cool. The bands were great as well: The Real Danger were amazing and The Flatliners totally killed it. Can't wait to see them again in a few weeks in Vienna.
After the show we stayed there as there was an aftershow-party announced. Oh boy, and what a party that was. Well, it was just a typica rock-pub party, nothing special, but our level of drunkenness made it pretty funny. Musicalwise we couldn't ask for anything more as they played a lot of hits like Green Day, Pantera, Guns 'n' Roses, Metallica, Joy Division and the likes. But then out of nothing the DJ put on "We gotta know" from the Cro-Mags, which made us got totally nuts, thrashing through the whole room. Good times!!!
So we danced the night away till the club closed down. Well...I danced the night away. Luccas body stopped functioning the way he wanted it to, so he went home a bit earlier than me. I gave him our own map, so when I went home half an hour later I of course got lost. Don't know how, but I made it home after a loooong walk only to find Lucca passed out on the hallway of our hostel. Took the little fucker up, lay him into his bed and that was the end of this legendary night. Can't wait for friday...it will be just as insane, if not even more...

So our night began...down at the bar.

The Real Danger

The Flatliners

This should become the gesture of the evening.

Lucca going berserk to the Cro-Mags.

Lucca resting after going berserk.

Lucca and his new friends.

Lucca and Hein of Union Town fame.

This is how I found him...poor little boy.

So our night ended...

Too high to die pt. II

Yesterday evening we met up with my old friend Pauli, who I haven't seen for like 8 years, for dinner. In only found out like 3 weeks ago that Pauli works and lives in Amsterdam right now, so I was more then happy when I got his e-mail adress and when he told me he was around when I'd come to the city made me really looking forward to this trip. So we met up at this nice student-run bar/restaurant, got some delicious burgers, spilled down a few beers and talked about the old days (and that we were real nerds playing DSA back then). It was nice to see him again and seeing that he's doing well. Good guy. Hope we can keep up the contact from now on.

So what did we do today? Lucca an I got up at around 11am. We went straight to the Rijksmuseum which was awesome. Rembrandt knew what he was doing. "The Night Watch" is a quite impressive painting.
Afterwards we wanted to go to a flea market, but got really hungry on the way. Gladly we found our new burger-mekka: The Burger Bar. Never ate such a delicious burger!! Think we're coming to this place again. The flea-market itself was a bit dissapointing...
Last station today was the Anne Frank House. Didn't know what to expect as I have to confess, that I never read her diary. I just know her story, but never read it in her own words. So the whole museum, walking through her house and hiding and reading quotes from her diary was a really impressive and at the same time frightening experience.

Now we're at home, chilling a bit and makin us ready for the The Flatliners show tonight and party with some friends from Amsterdam.

Sweet Tooth

THIS IS IT!!! THE REAL DEAL.

Too high to die! Pt. I

So yesterday evening Lucca and I arrived in Amsterdam. After finding our way from the airport to the city and checking in our superawesome hostel we went straight downtown to meet our new best friends AMNESIA and BUDDHA CHEESE. Together with them we went to eat something and then took them straight back home to chill and hang out with 'em.
The first thing we did today, together with our new friends, was checking out the Van Gogh museum which was really impressive. Afterwards we just strolled to the city, checking out some sights and churches. In one of the chuches was, to our pleasend surprise, the World Press Photo 2010 exhibition going on. Those were some amazing and at the same time really depressing pictures. Can't wait see those pics again when the exhibition comes through Vienna this fall. Now we're chilling at home, getting ready to meet an old friend of mine, who I haven't seen for like 8 years, and enjoy some tasty hamburgers.
